DESCRIPTION:
Quercetin is a supplement believed to contain inflammatory and histamine inhibiting effects.
FUNCTION:
Quercetin is a water-soluble and belongs to a group of bioflavonoids that cannot be produced in the human body. Bioflavonoids are plant substances found in all types of fruit, vegetables, grains, nuts seeds and flowers. Bioflavonoids not only contain many nutrients but are also believed to serve medicinal purposes as well. Quercetin is also considered a phytoestrogen.
Quercetin is also present in plants such as garlic and onions. It has a cell membrane stabilizing effect that has been shown to significantly decrease neutrophil lysosomal enzyme secretion, which can prevent lipid peroxidation and therefore aid in circulatory and cardiovascular health. It could also strengthen connective tissues and promote skeletal muscle health.
