Ultra Joint Forte contains a synergistic combination of glucosamine, chondroitin, methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) and astaxanthin. Glucosamine is an important precursor for the synthesis and maintenance of connective tissue. Chondroitin supports and protects connective tissues, primarily joint cartilage. MSM is a naturally occurring source of biologically available sulfur, also important in connective tissue maintenance. And astaxanthin helps to modulate the body’s normal inflammatory response.
Connective tissue is a fibrous type of body tissue that supports and connects internal organs (ligaments), forms bone, cartilage and blood vessel walls, and attaches muscles to bones (tendons). Glycosaminoglycans are an integral part of all connective tissues. Glucosamine is a natural constituent of glycosaminoglycans. Chondroitin sulfate is another glycosaminoglycan used synthesis and maintenance of connective tissues, especially in cartilage. Chondroitin also protects existing cartilage by reducing water loss and enzymatic breakdown of the cartilage.
Sulfur is an essential element in the glycosaminoglycans, as well as being critical in detoxification pathways in the liver. MSM is a dietary source of metabolically active sulfur that can be used in the synthesis of the many organosulfur compounds and proteins made in the body.
Astaxanthin may support normal functioning of the body’s natural inflammatory response. Studies have also reported its usefulness in maintaining normal joints and connective tissues. Its antioxidant function allows it to protect cells from oxidative and free radical damage.
